Young members of the Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology found Osnabrück City Group.

They want to make a strong case for the life sciences at Osnabrück: seven biology students and doctoral candidates have joined forces to share their enthusiasm for their subject with others. They will start in November with a series of seminars.

The youth organisation of the Gesellschaft für Biochemie und Molekularbiologie e. V. (Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) is a community of interest for students and doctoral candidates in the molecular biosciences. It is organised in the form of various self-governing city groups at currently thirty locations. Since June 2021, such a group has also existed in Osnabrück.

According to their own statements, the members have set themselves the goal of arousing interest in the life sciences and creating a complementary offer for biology students in Osnabrück. Among other things, they want to create exchange opportunities for students and doctoral candidates and strengthen the points of contact between researchers and students of biology in Osnabrück.

The starting signal for this project will be the monthly seminar series "Get to know... the Biology Department in Osnabrück" with researchers from the department. The speakers will report on their current scientific work as well as on their career paths - with a special focus on important decisions and possible hurdles.

Events on career opportunities outside of science and workshops to strengthen various soft skills are planned for the future. In addition, the group would like to develop information offers for interested pupils. The team of the city group is happy to be strengthened by like-minded people. The members meet regularly on the first Thursday of the month.
