Change and protection of biodiversity in Central Europe

Brown fire butterfly (Lycaena tityrus) on a sand immortelle (Helichrysum arenarium)

Tuesday, 12. November 2024, 6:30 pm

Referent: Prof. Dr. Thomas Fartmann, University of Osnabrueck
Location: Botanical Garden, Bohnenkamp House, Heliconia room

This presentation deals with the development over time and the extent of species extinction as well as measures to promote biodiversity. In no other type of land use has the decline in biodiversity been as dramatic as in the agricultural landscape. Sufficiently large habitats with high habitat quality are essential for the effective protection of biodiversity. In times of climate change, water retention in the landscape and increasing habitat and landscape heterogeneity also play a key role.

Participation is free of charge. A donation would be appreciated.
