Tropical rainforests and their enormous diversity have been the focus of public interest for decades. What are the tropics, how can this immense diversity be explained and how are the organisms adapted to the different living conditions? Focusing on the tropics of the New World, Klaus Mummen hopefully addresses these questions, characterizes and demonstrates tropical diversity and also discusses popular misconceptions about biological relationships in tropical forests in his lecture.
