"Fit for the future - climate trees in the botanical garden Garden"

Guided tour

Trees fulfil a range of ecosystem services. They are a source of food and habitats for insects, birds and mammals. They cool heated cities and provide shade. However, they are also affected by climate change, site restrictions and urban overheating. The vitality of maples, beeches and lime trees is not in good shape. However, there are numerous little-known tree species that seem fit for the future. A tour of the garden shows the mechanisms of adaptation to heat and drought and provides insights into the ecological value and possible uses of trees of the future.
